About the Author
Paul Hegstrom is the founder of Life Skills International, a program designed to teach life skills to individuals with unacceptable behaviors and enhance family relationships through nurturing character and maturity. Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in pastoral counseling and a Ph.D. in marriage and family therapy. He is a certified cognitive behavioral therapist with the National Board of Cognitive Behavioral Therapists and has been featured by such national media as USA Today, Focus on the Family, The 700 Club, The Montel Williams Show, and The Coral Ridge Hour. Paul and Judy Hegstrom’s story was featured in the 1995 CBS movie, Unforgivable: The Life Story of Paul Hegstrom, which starred John Ritter.

This book proved helpful to me as I search for answers to how to overcome an abusive marriage that harmed my children. It helps to explain why just wanting to be different than your parents isn't always easy.

This book provides an excellent complement to Paul's previous book on domestic violence. "Broken Children", reaches deeper into the hearts and minds of those who abuse and the people who find themselves living with abusers. Victims can identify with the helper and rescuer discussions and find motivation for change. Abusers can discover the root of their problems and address the shame vs. guilt thinking that motivates their behavior.

This is another wonderful effort by Dr. Paul Hegstrom that gives answers to some of life's toughest problems.

This is a great read for anyone who is an abuse survivor or someone who lives or works with an abuse victim. It is easy to read and explains so much that other books on this topic don't. It is not full of psycho mumbo jumbo and written in lay mans terms. Highly recommended.

Yet, the history of combinatorics seems to have been largely overlooked. This book goes some way to redress this and serves two main purposes: 1) it constitutes the first book-length survey of the history of combinatorics; and 2) it assembles, for the first time in a single source, researches on the history of combinatorics that would otherwise be inaccessible to the general reader.

Individual chapters have been contributed by sixteen experts. The book opens with an introduction by Donald E. Knuth to two thousand years of combinatorics. This is followed by seven chapters on early combinatorics, leading from Indian and Chinese writings on permutations to late-Renaissance publications on the arithmetical triangle. The next seven chapters trace the subsequent story, from Euler's contributions to such wide-ranging topics as partitions, polyhedra, and latin squares to the 20th century advances in combinatorial set theory, enumeration, and graph theory. The book concludes with some combinatorial reflections by the distinguished combinatorialist, Peter J. Cameron.

This book is not expected to be read from cover to cover, although it can be. Rather, it aims to serve as a valuable resource to a variety of audiences. Combinatorialists with little or no knowledge about the development of their subject will find the historical treatment stimulating. A historian of mathematics will view its assorted surveys as an encouragement for further research in combinatorics. The more general reader will discover an introduction to a fascinating and too little known subject that continues to stimulate and inspire the work of scholars today.

Robin Wilson, Emeritus Professor of Pure Mathematics, The Open University, UK and a Visiting Professor in the History of Mathematics at the London School of Economics.,John J. Watkins, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics, Colorado College

Robin Wilson is an Emeritus Professor of Pure Mathematics at the Open University, Emeritus Professor of Geometry at Gresham College, London, and a former Fellow of Keble College, Oxford. He was President of the British Society for the History of Mathematics from 2012 to 2014s. He has written and edited many books on graph theory, including Introduction to Graph Theory and Four Colours Suffice, and on the history of mathematics, including Lewis Carroll in Numberland. He is involved with the popularization and communication of mathematics and its history, and was awarded a Polya prize by the Mathematical Association of America for 'outstanding expository writing'.



John J. Watkins is an Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at Colorado College, USA. He received his doctorate from the University of Kansas, specializing in commutative ring theory. His main research interest, however, has been in graph theory and he has published mainly in this area, including many papers with undergraduates as co-authors. He has written several books, including Graphs: An Introductory Approach, Across the Board: The Mathematics of Chessboard Problems, and Topics in Commutative Ring Theory, and has recently finished his latest book, Elementary Number Theory. Colorado College presented John Watkins with the 2005 Boettcher Award for Faculty Excellence.

This is an edited book of chapters on the history of combinatorics from ancient times to modern times, and the editors are well known in graph theory circles, especially Wilson. In this case, you can tell a book by its cover. Let me whet your appetite with some names of chapters and the authors. Donald E Knuth kicks off with "Two thousand years of combinatorics" - he covers an average of 50 years/page. "Jewish combinatorics" is by Victor Katz. A.W.F. Edwards writes a chapter "The arithmetical triangle". Why does he not call this "Pascal's triangle"? Read it and find out. George Andrews writes about partitions - who else?. Nicely bound; lovely diagrams; you don't have to start at page 1 and read through to p. 370 or so. You can just sit, dip ... and sip. Enjoy!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This box set started right where it was left in part 4. I have to say it was a great read. Bethany and Damon’s feelings starts to really grow further and you can see their relationship moving.
Will Damon finally let his guard down? Will Bethany give in to her feelings?
Will Damon’s father and Bethany’s mother accept what they have? Or will they reject their children?

Super Hot Sexy Chemistry

Ioved this series so much. Must read in order to appreciate it. Box set is so nice, no stopping or waiting. I couldn't stand to be left waiting! This crazy love affair steams up this half. It seems to good to be true. Every time Damon disappoints, he comes back even better. Thank goodness she keeps pushing and does not give up. We all want a guy like this.

Bethany has just announced her love to Damon then quit her job right before slamming her bedroom door in his face. When he doesn't try harder to get her to open her door she is disappointed. The next day she decides she is going to go to Seattle with him to meet her future step father for an audit. When in Seattle Damon finally gives her what she needs...him, before she leaves him to nap he is sweet to her. But later that day his attitude has changed and the jerk comes back out. When they return home he asks her to stay with him. When he falls asleep her thoughts and fears take over until she calls her mom to come get her. The next day at the office she had Phillip join her for lunch. Damon sees them and is polite but something is off. After lunch she goes straight to his office to see a blond walking out fixing her clothes and lipstick. After they fight she returns to her office to find that he had sent her roses telling her he wanted to try with her. Bethany goes to meet the professor she will be the TA off during her master's program. Later she goes to Damon's where they work I being them. That night when she can't sleep she gets up to watch tv. When her phone goes off and she looks to see all the missed calls and texts from Jake, One of her best friends, she is instantly worried. Damon wakes up and says he will go with her to find out what's wrong. She never expected what she finds. Kris, her roommate, had tried to kill Jake. As time goes on she and Damon become closer, but they remain a secret due to the fact that they are about to be related. One night everyone is at her parent's house when Damon makes an announcement, which just happens to be telling everyone about their dating and that he loves her. They are surprised to learn that everyone already knew it and they are ask okay with it. Most importantly Damon just admitted he loved her. All that is left for them is working through each other's fears. This series was great. Damon and Bethany go so good together. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

A practising lawyer in Miami, Kent also conducts a course that, she claims, has helped over 400 women to become wives since its origination in 1969. The author's detailed tips on male manipulation comprise a howling, humorous success, if not a sure guide to tying the triumphant knot. The chapters deal with each phase of the husband hunt from dressing attractively and looking one's best (including "dentures if you need them; missing teeth are a turnoff,") through the happy ending. According to game plan, a woman meeting future in-laws should "keep your shoes on unless they remove theirs." Premarital sex is encouraged, and ways to enhance bedtime are covered extensively: "Don't expect him to sleep on wet sheets!"; "Don't store trinkets or money in your underwear!" Kent's numerous one-liners beg for quotation, but the finale caps them all: a woman must ignore "dastardly acts" that her intended may commit as weak attempts to escape matrimony, she says, citing examples of a prospective benedict who slashed his fiancee's car tires, another who moved to Europe and one who brought a date to his weddingall three wound up married anyway.

great book

I bought this book over 20 years ago. It helped me understand men and their egos. I got married within 2 years of reading this book. I highly recommend for anyone wanting to understand men better.

Women need to get this one. I've read every "how to catch a man" book out there and this is the only one you'll ever need (well, other than DrPhils Love Smart, which is only second to Margaret Kent. Louis and Copeland's "How to Succeed With Men",don't buy that one, it's absolute garbage. How To Marry the Man Of Your Choice rates high because it is psychological.It takes you into the minds of men, their behavior and the nitty gritty of what they expect, what makes them tick, and most importantly why they marry. "The Rules" is all about behavior guidelines. If you don't know the psychological workings of men, you won't be having much success. All the other dating self help books are philosophical, or full of junk science,and they never work. Margaret Kents book rates high for me because it comes with a master plan-which is what single women need, not another book on their plight. Two thumbs up.
