Good Reference

This book was originally written by Carl Johan Friedrich Bottcher of the Department of Physical Chemistry, University of Leiden, The Netherlands. The second edition was completely revised by O.C. van Belle, P. Bordewijk and A. Rip without input from Carl Bottcher in 1973 again at the Department of Physical Chemistry, University of Leiden, The Netherlands. The book covers the theory for electric polarization with theoretical detail not found elsewhere. I have found it useful to fill in the gaps for multipole expansions discussed by A.B. Buckingham in Quarterly Reviews of the Chemical Society 1959, 13, 183-214; 1967, 21, 195-212 and by Joseph O. Hirschfelder, Charles F. Curtiss and R. Byron Bird in their book entitled Molecular Theory of Gases and Liquids, 1954. As best as I can tell (still looking), these are the best works that provide the classical underpinnings for the polarization forces that one will encounter when using molecular modeling programs, etc. More recent works address quantum mechanical issues.

Barry Levine, Ph.D., is Chief Toxicologist, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, State of Maryland, and a Forensic Toxicologist, Armed Forces Medical Examiner. James Garvey has a PhD in philosophy from University College London. He works for the Royal Institute of Philosophy and is editor of The Philosophers' Magazine.�

James is the author of The Great Philosophers and The Story of Philosophy (both with Jeremy Stangroom), The Twenty Greatest Philosophy Books, and The Ethics of Climate Change. Another amazing Kingdom Keeper book!

What a great addition to the other Kingdom Keeper books in the series. I love this series! I am an elementary teacher and these books have it all: Adventure, mystery, history, friendship, science, technology, and scary moments that keep you on the edge of your seat. This one was amazing how Pearson wrote from both timelines but yet it seemed seamless and well placed and timed. So glad I ordered it early and got it so quickly! On a side note I love the colors of the cover, hardbound cover (dark blue), and interior end pages in (bright pink) I loved looking at it and couldn't wait to pick it up and read it!

Good, but not great as I had hoped.

I've really enjoyed all of the Kingdom Keepers books with the original series still being my favorite. Disney at Last is a fitting end to the series but I also found it perhaps the most challenging to get through as multiple characters hopping through multiple timelines made things a bit challenging at times. Fun read, but not my favorite.

I have loved this series and looked forward to reading the final book. However, this book left me wanting more. The story line felt chaotic, the ending felt rushed and lots of questions remained. Sad to say, but hugely disappointed in the way this incredible series of books was wrapped up.

Good Introduction

This book is a good introduction to a difficult topic. The authors don't focus on just the traditional "Costra Nostra" topics that many authors fall prey too. The authors carefully blend National and International Organized Crime (OC)Groups, Theories of OC and methods for controling the spread and growth of the groups.
The book is written in a textbook fashion and the authors provide keywords at the end of each chapter to assit the student in learning the main points of each chapter.
Both the authors appear very knowledgable in this subject and they continue to add current information into their newer additions.

Organized Crime is a really informative book, it offers a lot of information about various criminal organizations..not just Italian Maffia, but Russian, Irish, Jewish. The information is great becaus it is expanding my knowledge base of criminal organizations and their capabilities.
