I'm "ghost-writing" this review for my 9 year old daughter:
"I LOVED this book and I think its really funny when Geronimo misses four good vacations (the beach, the mountains, an adventure, and Egypt) and when he got stuck in a half a cheese slice hotel! I read all the Geronimo Stilton books in my school and local library I can find and I have to say I can't choose a favorite because they are all so good!!"

The book is awesome it is so hot in this time of year so he wants to go on vacation but people keep calling him with problems so he misses 4 flights. So he ends up going to a hotel that's nasty and runs into his co-worker and they spend the day together .She reads him her magazine on things to do during summer. But over all its a great book and really interesting.

Great size and exactly what I needed!

Great book, great size, exactly what I needed. Doesn't have pre printed dates so you can start at any point in the year. I'm going to spiral bind mine so I have a little more flexibility. Took a picture of the cover because some people were curious what it looks like, all in all I'm happy with it!

Changing my world one day at a time

I'm in Week 4 of this journal. I really like how this journal pushes me to think & feel more about each meal and snack; besides making me accountable for every bite I ingest. Discovered that I eat out of boredom and/or stress, when I'm forced to write WHY I ate what I ate. This journal has opened my eyes to portion control and emotions attached to food, as well as motivating me to exercise more (so I can get a big smiley face at the end of the day). It's not much, but so far I lost 1" off my waist. 6 more weeks to go!

Absolutely In Love

I'm just starting week four in my journal and I can honsetly say I probably would not have stuck with it if I didn't have this food journal. While I do agree it is a little big, (for me too big to carry around) it has all the key points I was looking for so I decided to go ahead and buy it. I'm so glad that I did. I have a small little notebook I keep in my lunch bag so I can write everything down then I just transcribe it over to my food journal when I get home from work.

I like the end of week summary. It helps me to keep focused and makes me think about my choices I made over the week.

This is an amazing book. I don't know where to begin

This is an amazing book. I don't know where to begin. I'll start with the writing quality. A Flame Put Out is a beautifully written story. The characterization brilliant. The plot fresh and full of unexpected twists. I mean***no spoilerS sorry*** the end I didn't see it coming and I've been on hooks for the final book since I read the second in the series a year ago. ERIN, hurry up and release the darn thing. What makes this truly a quality read is while the heroine is easy to like and have sympathy for, I mean she's a woman trapped in her era and persevering, but the Hero isn't exactly the kind of Viking you'd sympathize with. Why, because Erin wrote him true to history. And yet I do hope and care for him, and like the character without having to like the behavior of the man. And that is a brilliant accomplishment by a writer. Few writers can do that and Erin does it amazingly. I can't finish this review without remarking on the high standard of historical research and fact in this book. Simply put: A Flame Put Out is a read, a reread, of exception quality. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Great addition to the series.

Alrik and Selia, together again? When the story begins with Selia telling Alrik that she loves him, I wasn't sure if this was going to be a true romance or if things would go terribly wrong. Alrik is not a typical hero. He is flawed, and in this part of the series, those flaws became so dark, that it was impossible for me to have any thread of sympathy or empathy for him. Selia also grows into a nurturing mother, who matures quickly when danger approaches her new family. The growth of the characters was top notch.

Enough about the plot, which has been well described by other reviewers. Let me just say that I thought the writing was smooth, uncluttered, and full of wonderful details that lifted the historical tale brilliantly.

I applaud the author's gift for storytelling, and her eloquent writing style, which was captivating throughout.

What Happens When Love Isn't Enough?

I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
The story is a continuation from “Odin’s Shadow” and starts with Selia’s return to her husband Alrik. She tells him that she will stay with him and that she loves him. Alrik is grateful that she has returned since he is lost without her. Selia must now deal with the consequences of staying with Alrik and must make many difficult decisions to ensure her safety and the safety of her unborn child. The birth of Muirin’s child, a slave girl whose child belongs either to Alrik or to his brother Ulfrik, changes Selia’s world forever. She must convince Alrik to claim the child so that he will become Hersir and lead the Vikings one day. If he doesn’t claim the child, Selia’s child will one day have to lead raids against his own Irish descendants. The thought breaks Selia’s heart so she must work fast to save her child from a cruel fate. What Selia doesn’t know is that this simple choice will bring much pain and sorrow to her and her family. One choice can change the entire course of history, for the worse.
The entire time I read this book, I couldn’t wait to read the next page. Not only are the details crisp and beautiful, but Mrs. Riley creates tension during each key moment so that you can’t put the book down until you know what happens. This time around, Selia has grown up and is no longer a love sick puppy who forgives Alrik for all of his horrible deeds. She is forced to finally see Alrik for the monster that he is when he threatens the children. A person can accept many levels of abuse when they are the one being abused, but things change when a child becomes involved. Though Selia is taking a huge risk in protecting her children, I was glad to see that she was able to make the difficult decision of putting her children first.
I found it interesting that the relationship between Selia and her wicked step-daugther, Ingrid, finally changed. I always thought that they would end up killing each other. Now they are forced to work together against a common enemy. I was touched by a moment when Ingrid actually sympathized with Selia, though Selia decided that she didn’t want Ingrid’s pity.
Mrs. Riley has taken the idea of loving a cruel man and explored all the levels of abuse that a person must go through before finally realizing that the love they once had is not enough to excuse their horrible behavior. It’s a tale that many are familiar with, but one that not everyone can walk away from. She has taken a small naive girl and turned her into a strong woman able to protect her child, while sacrificing her needs for theirs. I love this series and am hopeful for a good outcome in “Oath Breaker.” I gave “A Flame Put Out” 5 stars.
