It Just keeps getting better

Again: Hooray for a cover that has a "feel" that matches the story! Intense.Dark.And Beautiful :)

Capture starts off with intensity, picking up where Reveal ends. Prom night, Terror.. and Running for their lives!

Thankfully, Hugh knows of a safe haven. A place where the darkness cannot track them. Here is where we meet a multitude of new Cryptids! Why and how you ask? Oh ya know... Shay just kinda invited them in * shrug* But it turns out it's all for the best. They need an army. Shay and Hugh may have a destiny. But it won't matter if they can't survive long enough to fulfill it !

I loved Capture. It was filled with so much action, adventure and love that, well I could not put it down! Less than 2 hours after opening it up, I closed it with shock on my face, Wanting more!

In this part of the story we learn that Cryptids are not just super special humans that can shift into animals. But much more diverse. A harpy who I grew to love. A lizard like man, A Moth man- ya you read right! Oh and Centars! As well as so many more. It was awesome! I was giddy with excitement getting to learn about each different cryptid and their "quirks" right along with Shay.

#2 in Brina Courtney's Cryptid Tales series will have you laughing, gripping the pages, swooning, and going " What the heck" In a short time period and leave you begging for more. Like me .. I ... Need... MORE lol

What do I wish there was more of in Capture?.. PAGES >.< It was over so quickly. But I can't deny that it was a well rounded story for it's length.

This Series WILL have a big fan base. I predict it.. It will happen. Such an interesting tale, with a plethora of characters and twists.. cannot be overlooked !

Picks right off where first book ends

This book begins right where the first one ends, Shay and Hugh at the Senior Shuffle. Erica, one of the meanies from book two and several of her minions show up. She tries to capture Shay and Hugh but Olivia to the rescue. Shay and Hugh along with Olivia get away. They drop her off and tell her that she doesn't know them. This part makes me sad, as Olivia was my favorite character from book one in the series. They of course hide and regroup- with several other cryptids joining forces. The new characters help her to fight Malsumis and his followers. Since this is the second in series you know of course that there is no resolution between Shay and Malsumis yet. But the second book was fast paced and with more action. So that was a plus. Another thing that the author has going for her is that there is still no love triangle. Praise all that is holy! Although Shay and Hugh could cut back on telling each other I Love You just a little.

The story had soo much potential. I knew the first book, Reveal, was short but it had more description than this one. I did not feel that there was any character development in this one and it resolved the conflict abruptly in the last chapters as loudly as simply putting The End would.

Fantastic sightseeing book; go elsewhere for restaurant info

We just returned from Budapest (and Prague) and got real value from this book. The information on the sights was perfect for us. It helped prioritize our list of things to see, explained the layout of the city, and gave good background information. The book's emphasis on visual communication works better for me than the traditional purely narrative guidebook. The book also contains good street level maps for the central parts of the city.

The information on restaurants, however, was weak. It is out of date. I gather that the same is true of the hotel information but did not use it for that purpose. Rely on the web for up to date restaurant information.

This is a great series!

I really like this series of books. With all of the pictures and information it makes planning an itinerary very easy. After the trip these books are also great to put on the coffee table.

I would suggest these to anyone starting to research a place to visit.

Information is organized into logical categories, making any essential information one wants easy to find. Numerous color photographs are especially welcome. I find the walking routes that combine visual and verbal cues extremely helpful, easy to follow, and very much appreciated. Good preparation for a visit enhances one's enjoyment; this guide helps one prepare thoroughly.

Camilla & Charles: A Selfish Love Affair

While I felt that this was an interesting read I felt the author painted an unfair portrait of Diana. She portrayed Diana as a crazy, unstable shrew and yet it was Charles refusal to end his relationship with Camilla that caused Diana to be so unhappy and angry. I don't think there are very few women on this planet that would be happy and accept the fact that their husband has a mistress for 20 years that he refuses to give up after marriage. It proved to me at least, that Diana was justified in her ending her marriage and giving up the throne. The author paints Charles and Camilla as 2 poor lovers who go through hell just to be together. I felt no sympathy for either of them. But it is an engrossing book none the less.

An even and informative tale about Camilla Parker-Bowles, a poor little rich girl who may someday get her prince.
What we learn is that the upper class in the UK is alive and sick with its own moral code. Do what you want, just don't talk about it.
I like the author's style of writing, but don't really care for Camilla.

Not what I expected, but not bad

Considering the book is called 'perfect phrases', well, I expected to find a collection of phrases, maybe organized by adjective or characteristic (e.g., organization, responsibility, work ethics). The book has really good pointers on how to make a better letter of recommendation, but I guess the title is misleading. It also contains many examples of reference letters, which is not very useful when one is trying to find a sentence that describes the student or colleague one is writing about. In summary, I think it is a good book, I just don't think it is very practical.

Great resource but watch the sugar!

This book is a wonderful resource for transitioning the entire family to a Paleo lifestyle. It describes useful tools that I almost deem essential now and what they term "funny ingredients". My 5 year old loved the dinosaur story and she was instantly motivated to eat that way. My 7 year old was terrified by it but he has a strong food aversion disorder. The thought of eating what he thought was gross just made him cry. He did pick the Anytime Cookies recipe so we made that one first. They did not turn out like the picture at all. As a very visual child, he was furious and wouldn't try them. I found them tasty but they certainly weren't like the picture. I plan to try it again and then see how I can adapt it to make it less runny. My favorite recipe in here is the waffles and I think over time my kids will like those as well.

There are over 100 reviews here that will tell you the wonderful parts with this book so I don't feel the need to repeat them all. Since this is a review, I feel the need to be honest with some criticism.

There were two parts of this book that I did not like. First, they recommend transitioning your kids quickly. I don't necessarily agree with this approach for kids age 4+ who are going through a picky stage already. Our child became malnourished from his refusal to eat a few months ago and as much as everyone tells you that they will eat what you feed them, that is not always the case. Although my son is an extreme exception, I know there are other kids out there like him. My other two children are transitioning nicely. I feel it is better to empower the child to make the right choice. Read Cole's story in the book and talk about how processed food, grains and legumes make your child ill. Given the choice and knowing the consequence (tummy ache) of a bad choice often makes transitioning less of a battle. Now if you already have good eaters, you can probably transition over night without a problem but I just wanted to point out that it is not the best approach for everyone.

My second issue with this book is that this is a Paleo family and although the book is not exclusively a Paleo only book, I expected all the recipes to be Paleo. Sugar is not Paleo at all. I was shocked to see how many of these recipes had sugar, some even up to a cup. Sugar will make you crave more sugar and leads to a host of learning problems for children. There are many ways to sweeten treats without sugar. Even coconut palm sugar is a much better option than granulated sugar. Sugar no longer exists in our home and I would hope that this Paleo family will eventually make that step in their diet.

Criticism aside, this family is truly amazing in their transformation. They talk about more than just food in this book. Going Paleo is a lifestyle change, not just a diet change. I highly recommend adding this book to your library of Paleo books but avoid the recipes with sugar.

"Thought we were healthy"

My family and I ate the right things or so we thought. Whole grains, brown rice, meats, veggies, fruits, and Friday night pizza of course! Even our close friends would come for a visit and say we always had healthy snacks. But something wasn't right, we were all tired, hungry, and had low energy. My four year old son ate breakfast and within a half hour was telling me he was still hungry. How could this be? He just downed 6-8 mini pancakes and a cup of skim milk.

Then I stared reading/researching healthy eating for families. Kids I especially wanted to read about their nutrition and it was at this time I found Paleo and Eat Like A Dinosaur. We quickly cleaned out our pantry, fridge, and freezer of ALL processed foods. I explained to my four year old what we were doing and we went to the market and ordered our copy of ELaD.

Today we are 3-4 months into Paleo and we have never felt better. We reference this book daily and my four year old is excited to pick-out recipes to help create. The children's story in this book was helpful in explaining our new lifestyle and we've even read it to some of our friends children.

Without a doubt you will love this book and live better after practicing these techniques to healthy living with your family.

Too many sweets for my taste!

I bought this cookbook hoping it would be something I could look at with my preschooler to plan meals. Yes, he liked the dinosaur theme and all that, but I was shocked to find the book LOADED with sweet treats! We have no problem coming up with treats in our house, even without grains or refined sugars. My boy has a sweet tooth, and he just goes straight to the dessert page when we look at this together. I would have been SO excited to get a kid-oriented cookbook that DIDN'T offer so many sweet things. Alas, this is not that book.
