The main motivating factor that led me to produce this lab manual was to help alleviate some of the financial stress science students face from the skyrocketing costs of science textbooks and laboratory manuals produced by traditional textbook publishing companies. �

I have been using these exercises in my invertebrate zoology classes for the past five years, where I make them available to my students free of charge. �I recently had the chance to update these exercises and work them into a book format. I then decided to self-publish them so I could make them available to invertebrate zoology students elsewhere�at an affordable price.�By the way, the last time I checked it could cost a student around $90 for a new copy of a commercially available invertebrate zoology lab manual. I'm sorry, but in my opinion that's just too much.

About the Author
Alan Holyoak earned BS and MS degrees in Zoology from Brigham Young University, and a PhD from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has taught invertebrate zoology for over 20 years, first at Manchester University (IN) and currently at Brigham Young University-Idaho. During his career he has also taught or carried out research at The Friday Harbor Labs of the University of Washington, The University of Hawaii, The Long Marine Lab of UC Santa Cruz, Hopkins Marine Station of Stanford University, and the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology of the University of Oregon.

Very good and up to date. Images are clear and informative. I make my own labs, but use this manual to supplement. Works very well. He covers the common essentials. Enough detail to cover the topics without getting bogged down.

LOVED it! Wonderful Regency Romance

Author Jennifer Moore is back after her debut, with a companion novel to Becoming Lady Lockwood. And, I must say her writing is even better than ever. I absolutely loved Lady Emma's Campaign. Set in Spain during the Regency Era Napoleonic Wars, it is the tale of a soldier experiencing PTSD after a grueling number of years on the battlefield, and his best friend's sister Emma. She is 17 and in her season with plenty of suitors, but her heart is set on Sidney Drake. She is determined to be seen as more than a sister figure or young girl, and to win his heart.
With fascinating descriptions of life in Spain during war time, life on the seas as a sailor, and the dull social preoccupation of London's scene, I was hooked. As a fan of historical fiction and clean romance, I must recommend you pick up Lady Emma's Campaign. I am so impressed with all the well-researched facts and the psychological effects of trauma that were built into the story line.
Highly recommend!

Unique Regency Novel

I recently read Jennifer Moore's debut novel (Becoming Lady Lockwood) and was surprised when I found this companion novel only a few weeks later! While I loved the first book, this one has several unique elements that made it a more engaging read.
The novel mostly takes place in Spain during the Napoleonic Wars. I loved this setting because I have read a lot of Regency fiction and it mostly focuses on England, France, and maybe the Caribbean. Moore's descriptions of Spain are breathtaking, both the beauty and the destruction.
The characters of this book are more developed than Moore's first novel. I really liked the internal struggles of the hero. He has been through a lot in the novel and has to come to terms with it. At first, the heroine bothered me because of her na�vet� and short-sightedness. However she proves herself in the end. I liked accompanying them on their journey to see how they grew.
If you are super sensitive to violence, some scenes may be hard to read. However I believe their inclusion show the catalyst for much of the heroine's growth.
I loved this book because it shows a different side of Regency life, one away from the light and frivolity of the London season. Moore has another book out in February 2015 and I can't wait to read that one!

An AMAZING story!

I LOVE Jennifer Moore's books!
Regency romance taken out of the ton and put into the treacherous world...
Yet still having all the propriety that we love to read about.
A book that will hold your attention until the very end!

Emma has known for a while now that her heart belongs to her older brother's friend, Sidney.

But Sidney is setting sail and will not be back for a while.

So Emma has her season and starts to entertain other suitors.

However she compares everyone to Sidney and has now turned down many offers of marriage.

Then word comes that Sidney has been killed.

Heart-broken Emma doesn't know what to do...should she take the latest offer of marriage or would it be better to be a spinster; even as terrible as that would be?

News finally arrives that Sidney might not be dead, but is possibly being held captive.

So Emma starts out on a rescue mission.

She will sail the seas...traipse into a prison...travel across a battlefield... all while trying to maintain the dignity of being a lady.

She will show great courage as she helps treat the wounded, gathers orphans, endures threatening demise, and helps Sidney overcome the effect of war-time stress.

Will Sidney finally view Emma as a grown woman?

Or will she forever be...the little sister?

And to top it all off Sidney might be in possession of a coin from a Spanish treasure...
