Forrest W. Breyfogle, III is the founder and CEO of Smarter Solutions, Inc. In 2004, Mr. Breyfogle received the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Croby Medal for his book, Implementing Six Sigma, 2nd ed. He is an ASQ Fellow and a member of the board of advisors for the University of Texas Center for Performing Excellence.

It's ok...not great...and certainly pricey!

There are definitely some valuable elements within this book. I think the initial discussion on value contribution to be gained on proper alignment to strategy is a very well done piece. That being said, I'm not sure this book adds a lot to existing body of knowledge.
I think it's very hard to beat the QSB Consulting jogger book regarding roadmap, tools, Minitab, etc. which much of the Breyfogle jogger attempts to do. There are some nuggets here and there, but nothing really significant. It seems to be a bit of a rehash of some of Breyfogle's other books.
Also, I don't think a significant amount of work was done on layout. As one reviewer stated, it seems to be a training manual format. The paper is glossy and printed black and white only with very limited graphics, so it is a bit of a chore to read.
All in all, an OK book with nothing to really recommend it strongly. Those with limited budgets would be better served by the QSB Consulting book and perhaps the big Breyfogle book.

Very dissappointed

I was very disappointed.
From the 5 star reviews and the references to `memory joggers' and Minitab, I was expecting something much much more.
This 'book' is essentially a training manual printed out, so it's not been written for someone to read, but for a delegate on a training course (and it needs a trainer to guide you through it). The acknowledgements section thanks someone for his "selection of the book content from Smarter Solutions' material" - which supports my hunch that it's just copied and pasted training material. There are also constant references to other books published by the author, which means that this book doesn't work as a stand alone guide, but you need to buy the other books to make sense of the references.
Mine arrived in a terrible state - the thin paper cover doesn't protect the pages at all, and the cover corners were all bent.
